BILLY IDOL AND SAM BUSH JUST ADDED TO 2008 BRITT LINEUP! (4-25-08)
MEDFORD, OR — Britt Festivals has added two artists to its 2008 season. Rocker Billy Idol performs on Wednesday, July 2 at 7:30 p.m. and mandolinist Sam Bush joins Bill Evans on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008 at 7 p.m. Both concerts will be held at the Britt Pavilion in historic Jacksonville, Oregon.
Billy Idol was one of the first artists to achieve massive success in the early ‘80s due in large part to huge exposure on MTV. The singer who howled “Rebel Yell,” growled “White Wedding,” rocked the “Cradle of Love” and manhandled “Mony Mony” is touring in support of the June release of Idolize Yourself: Very Best of Billy Idol.
While Sam Bush admits a certain discomfort with the moniker “King of Newgrass,” he has more than earned it. As cofounder and leader of the seminal progressive bluegrass band New Grass Revival, he’s one of the most brilliant lights of “newgrass,” the wild bluegrass stepchild that features rock 'n' roll grooves and extended virtuosic jams. When he's not heading the ever-popular Sam Bush Band, he often serves as a super-sideman with the likes of Emmylou Harris, Lyle Lovett and the Flecktones.
Tickets for these shows are on sale to Britt members only until May 12, 2008 when they go on sale to the general public. For information about Britt’s 2008 season and membership, visit Britt on the web at brittfest.org or call 541-773-6077 or 1-800-882-7488. Britt’s box office is now open 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday at 216 West Main St. in Medford.
Now in its 46th year, Britt Festivals is a non-profit organization that presents and sponsors performing arts and supports those activities through on-going education and audience development programs, and through cooperation with educational, civic, cultural and governmental organizations in Southern Oregon. In addition to presenting concerts, Britt Festivals maintains a formal education program through the Britt Institute. Established in 1985, the Britt Institute hosts a wide variety of learning through a multi-faceted approach of summer camps, workshops, artist residencies, grade school programs, lectures and adult learning opportunities.
