Britt's 2008 season ends on Sunday evening, August 17, with the orchestra's performance of Aaron Copland's Symphony No. 3. This work has been called one of the greatest American symphonies, and it will serve as a celebratory ending to the Classical Festival. The most familiar part of the Symphony for most will be the strains of Copland's "Fanfare for the Common Man." Copland had already written the fanfare when he composed the symphony, and he used it as the basis for much of the finale in the full-length Symphony No. 3. The "Fanfare for the Common Man" has been used for countless occasions, even the Olympics!
