I was very disappointed in the way the Britt Festival handled the program for Judy Collins and Dar Williams. Both performers were excellent and made the evening enjoyable. But! the way in which the Britt Festival handled the break between the sets (40 minutes) meant that the 10:30 curfew for the program cut short the performance of Judy Collins. It appeared that Ms. Collins was not informed for the curfew and due to the lengthy break was not allowed the fully complete her performance. I felt that the program was cut short and the conclusion of the program left a pall on an otherwise wonderful evening. The only thing I could liken the event too would be to have gone to a three part play and then being asked to leave halfway through the third act. I would like to reiterate that both performers were wonderful but I feel that the management of the venue by the Britt Festival left me very frustrated.

Thanks for writing. I’m sorry for your disappointment in the ending of the concert, and am checking with our production crew to find out why it was so abrupt. -Sara King Cole, Britt Festivals

Hi again—I checked with our Director of Programming and Production Mike Sturgill, who assured me that the artist management was informed of our 10:30 p.m. curfew. As you know, every performance at Britt is subject to a 10:30 p.m. curfew, through our agreement with the City of Jacksonville. Dar Williams’ set was a few minutes shorter than the time we’d allowed for, which made a slightly longer intermission than usual. Judy Collins performed a 90-minute set, as she was scheduled to do. We apologize for the unexpectedly abrupt ending to the concert, and are sorry that this left you disappointed. We’ll continue to communicate our time constraints with our artists, and hope that your experience doesn’t prevent you from enjoying another concert at Britt.
