Britt Festivals Receives $5,000 for 2008 Classical Festival (9-2-08)
JACKSONVILLE, OR — The Kinsman Foundation awarded $5,000 to the Peter Britt Gardens Music and Arts Festival Association in support of the 2008 Britt Classical Festival, which ran from Friday, Aug. 1 through Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008. Funds from the Kinsman Foundation assisted in the production of seven nights of classical music under the stars at Britt Festivals.
The Kinsman Foundation is a family foundation located in Milwaukie, Oregon, established in 1983 by John and Elizabeth T. Kinsman. Historic preservation has been their principal funding area, and the foundation found the history of Britt Festivals and the Classical Festival a worthy cause to support.
Founded in 1963, the Britt Classical Festival features a professional orchestra of 100 musicians who come from all over the United States for a three-week stay in southern Oregon. High-caliber guest artists join the orchestra each August to present a series of concerts under a canopy of stars.
Britt Festivals is a non-profit organization that presents and sponsors performing arts and supports those activities through on-going education and audience development programs and through cooperation with educational, civic, cultural and governmental organizations in Southern Oregon. In addition to maintaining a formal education program, Britt honors its mission through the engagement of the world's top performers in classical music, dance, jazz, blues, folk, bluegrass, world, pop and country music.
