Britt Kicks Off 46th Season With Opening Party and Crosby, Stills & Nash (5-28-08)
JACKSONVILLE, OR — Britt Festivals 46th season begins this weekend with a sold-out Crosby, Stills & Nash concert Sunday, June 1. Jacksonville begins the celebration one day early with a first-time event—"Celebrate Britt's 46th Season and Jacksonville"—on Saturday, May 31 in downtown Jacksonville.
The Crosby, Stills & Nash concert sold out in early May. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the concert, as part of the band's association with World Hunger Year (WHY), a national advocate for solutions to hunger and poverty. Access, Inc. will collect the food donations for local distribution.
"Celebrate Britt's 46th Season and Jacksonville" features artisan food, local wine and musicians on Saturday, May 31 from 2 - 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public with music by Thistledown, the Wade Guitar Trio, Michael Charles Smith "Marimba Mike," the Nick Waroff Jazz Trio and One Horse Shy. For $10, attendees can purchase a wine glass and sample the wares of several wineries at tasting stations throughout downtown Jacksonville. Britt's 2008 season includes concerts through September 7 with artists in jazz, blues, pop, dance, folk, country and classical music, including Return to Forever, LeAnn Rimes, The Neville Brothers and Dr. John, Keb' Mo', Taj Mahal, Earth Wind & Fire, B.B. King, Brooks & Dunn, Lyle Lovett and His Large Band, Clint Black, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Buddy Guy, Judy Collins, Steve Miller Band and Joe Cocker. At this printing, the only other sold-out concert is Bonnie Raitt on September 1.

Now in its 46th year, Britt Festivals is a non-profit organization that presents and sponsors performing arts and supports those activities through on-going education and audience development programs, and through cooperation with educational, civic, cultural, and governmental organizations in southern Oregon. In addition to presenting concerts, Britt Festivals maintains a formal education program through the Britt Institute.
