Under the Radar Festival:
Wailin' Jennys

Friday, June 27, 2008 • 6:30 p.m.

wailinjennys.jpgWith three extraordinary voices and one singular vision, The Wailin' Jenny's blew in on a fresh acoustic breeze from Canada's heartland more than five years ago. The trio is spurred onward by a growing and enthusiastic fan base, including Garrison Keillor, who has featured them on A Prairie Home Companion. Their second album Firecracker garnered them a second Juno nomination and a flurry of critical acclaim.

The Wailin' Jennys will close this concert.

As a tunesmith and stellar guitarist, Kelly Joe Phelps already has a proven track record, with a catalogue of original songs infused with what The Washington Post calls “poignancy, passion and spirituality.” The Portland-based musician’s latest album Tunesmith Retrofit offers a collection that shows Phelps at the peak of his songwriting powers, tackling engaging story songs and soul-baring ballads with equal aplomb.
